Karbonik, 62, formerly of Dundalk, passed away suddenly; beloved husband of Geri Karbonik; step-father of Amy McCaffery and husband Sean, David Udowenko and wife Melissa Coen-Udowenko; loving son of Nicholas L. Karbonik and the late Josephine Golia Karbonik; dear brother of Nicholas D. Karbonik and wife Diane; adored grandfather of Justin, Abigail, Carleigh, Olivia, David, Noel, Brynn and Charlotte.Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life service for Michael at Schimunek Funeral Home of Bel Air, Inc., 610 W. Viewing set for Perry Hall soldier killed in Afghanistan - Baltimore Sun

The viewing for Sgt. Eric M. Houck, 25, will be held 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Schimunek Funeral Home, 610 West MacPhail Road in Bel Air.Houck's family also will host a public memorial gathering at noon Sunday at Gunpowder VFW Post 10067, 6309 Ebenezer Road in Middle River.According to an obituary from the funeral home, Houck will be buried at Veterans Cemetery at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.Houck and two others were killed June 10 in the Peka Valley of the Nangarhar Province in Afghanistan, according to the Army. Houck, Sgt. William M. Bays and Cpl. Dillon C. Baldridge were members of the Army's 101st Airborne Division and were supporting Operation Freedom's Sentinel.Houck is a 2009 graduate of Perry Hall High School and is survived by his wife, Samantha Houck, and two young children.Earlier this week, Baltimore County officials said Houck's name will be added to a new memorial in Towson that honors county service members who lost their lives in the Middle East since Operation Desert Storm.Baltimore Sun Media Group reporter Margarita Cambest contributed to this article.pwood@baltsun.comtwitter.com/pwoodreporter...

Regester, 86, of Las Vegas, Nev., and formerly of Hagerstown, Md., passed away Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017.He was born Sept. 25, 1930, in Baltimore, Md. He was the son of John J. Regester and Philomenia Petersam Regester, who preceded him in death.He served as a corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.He was the former owner of the 7 Up Bottling Co. of Hagerstown.He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Mary D. Regester (nee Brockmeyer); daughter, Lisa A. Regester and son-in-law, Monte C. Hoffman; brother, Dennis C. Regester; and numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his sisters, Elinor M. Kreit and Marian R. Kreit.The family will receive relatives and friends at Schimunek Funeral Home, 9705 Belair Road, Nottingham, MD 21236 on Wednesday, March 15, 2017, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. A memorial Mass will follow at St. Joseph's Catholic Church (Fullerton) at 11 a.m. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.
